Manager QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with relevant coursework required; Master’s degree in urban planning, public administration, public policy, or real estate development preferred.
  • 3-5 years of related experience in the public, private or non-profit sector working in urban planning, land use, or related field.  An understanding of local and regional land use planning and real estate development issues, knowledge of key local and regional players in the field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills.  
  • Ability to build relationships with ULI members and other partners to encourage their commitment and contribution to programs and initiatives.
  • Proven project management skills and the ability to manage several projects at once.

  • Ability to initiate tasks and assume responsibility, and to work with minimal supervision in a high production position, demonstrated success at managing competing priorities effectively.

Associate QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS or 2-4 years of related nonprofit/member associate experience preferred.
  • Ability to provide courteous customer service and maintain professional relationships with coworkers and ULI members.
  • Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work with senior business and public sector executives.
  • Ability to initiate and prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks concurrently and completely with responsible follow-through and minimal supervision; high attentiveness to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrated proficiency/skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); knowledge of and competency with graphics and relevant software, such as Canva, Illustrator, Photoshop, or communications software a plus. Familiarity and proficiency with web-based tools, such as content management systems or internet-based tools for updating and publishing content to dynamic websites (e.g., Higher Logic, ADP, WordPress, Paramount Workplace, Condeco) are a plus.
  • Willingness to learn new skills associated with program administration, and to take part in your own learning.
  • Experience in multi-platform communications desired.
  • Ability to manage and reliably execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, demonstrating meticulous attention to both details and deadlines.
  • Proven project and office management skills, including creative problem-solving.
  • Meeting and event coordination skills.
  • Ability to travel to and attend early morning and evening events throughout the Metropolitan Washington, DC Region.
  • Interest in real estate development and land use planning a plus.

  • Two to three years of experience in administrative positions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in multi-layered project scheduling and tracking systems, data gathering and entry, and communication within and across teams.
  • The ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven track record of and interest in, and understanding the value of, accuracy.
  • Experience as a team player in a variety of settings.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, and strong critical thinking ability.
